Valerie Cacatian is a health blogger and a Children’s Social Worker for Los Angeles County. Whether she is writing about health or working with runaway foster children to turn their lives around, Valerie is constantly thinking of ways to help others thrive.
When she became a social worker four years ago, Valerie learned very quickly that only way she would be able to deal with the stressful reality of her job was to strike a balance between her professional and personal lives. And the balance she achieved has been built on the foundation of a healthy and creative lifestyle.
After returning in early 2012 from an inspirational trip to Hawaii’s Big Island with her fiancé, Valerie launched “The Happy Healthy Hippie” to share her passion for finding enlightenment in the simple pleasures of cooking, nutrition, and fitness.
Valerie is a founding member of Each One Teach One, a health-focused symposium that recently invited more than 300 foster youth from around Los Angeles. The symposium hosted a series of workshops that focused on battling adversity through artistic expression, health and fitness. It was then featured on The Los Angeles Times - http://articles.latimes.com/2012/aug/21/local/la-me-0821-banks-fostercare-20120821.
Last but not the least, Valerie is a co-founder of Bloggers Of Health, a network of health bloggers that serves as support, connection and a haven for other like-minded health enthusiasts.
